Broeiro Reef

For many divers, Broeiro Reef is one of the best dive sites in Portugal. Located within the Berlingas Nature Reserve, this beautiful spot is teeming with a rich variety of marine life. An advanced or Level Two certification is needed to dive here due to the strong currents that are often present and when the weather and water conditions are good, the variety of marine life to be found here makes it totally worth it!

Broeiro Reef starts at 5m and descends down to 45m. The northern wall drops down and plateaus out at 25m with another drop off down to 45m. Diver can spot sargo’s hunting within the rock crevices, moray eels and conger eels hiding out within the cracks and large crabs and turtles can often be seen.

Schools of fish are in abundance here and almost always big and plentiful. Look out for sea bream and mackerel, and in summer, triggerfish, moon fish (mola mola) large amberjacks and tuna. Deeper down towards the north west part of the dive site, divers will find large schools of sea bass and a few huge groupers! In the north east lies part of the Maroudio Inglessi wreck and finally, the southern most drop off, although less interesting as the others, is a great spot to see the rest of the wreck!

Our opinion on Haliotis Dive Center:

They dreamt of it and sure enough they made it happen! José Alberto Oliveira Alves and Pedro have created their very own diving center within the magnificent UNESCO Berlengas nature reserve in Peniche, Portugal. The Haliotis dive ...
