Secca della Columbara

Secca della Columbara, off Ustica, has regularly been ranked as one of the top dive sites in the Med, and was several times included in the European Top 10! You will definitely be amazed by the colourful wall, beautifully set with gorgonian fans and sponges; the scools of barracudas out in the blue; those massive groupers, curious and with a know-it-all look; the kingfish swirling around and... a wreck!

The wreck is a 74m cargoship that sank in 2005 while carrying slabs of marble. It sits at 20m down and is split in 2 sections.

The wall is covered in red gorgonian fans, coral-like flora and sponges, including the solitary cup coral Caryophyllia and the encrusting pink sponge Oscarella. Check out the crayfish if you have a bit of time...

The site's usually dived with the wall on your right shoulder; keep going and gradually shallow up between 15 and 20m until you meet the wreck. Once you've done the wreck tour, keep going the same direction you arrived and there's a high chance you see a huge swirling school of barracudas, mixed with big groupers and kingfish. Sometimes, smaller fish mingle in, like chromis or Turkish wrasse.

The wall reaches its shallowest point at 2m under the surface: so the site is accessible to all levels!
