Batu Bolong

Batu Bolong means 'pierced rock' in Bahasa Indonesia. As a matter of fact the emerged part of the reef is a huge boulder... with a hole in there!

Under the surface, you'll find a massive pyramid with a steep slope on one side and a wall on the other. The slope side is the richest and the most densely populated: from its base, deep and wide, all the way up to the top, narrow and shallow, you'll experience a dive of unparalleled diversity (shrimps, crabs, colourful and non-classified nudibranchs!) while you look at the reef. If you look out in the blue, you're in for another slap across your mask with some big fish (tunas, sharks, giant trevallies, groupers and Spanish mackerels...)! Arguably one of the best dive site in the whole Park.

The 'wall' side is wilder and often battered by strong currents, though you'll find (if you pay attention) a heap of extravagant nudibranchs!

Be extremely careful: the currents rushing past the site can push you down! Stay in the sheltered zone at all cost.

Truly a dive that you'll never forget!
