Also called Punta Rossa, Punta Munchillina is located on the outskirts of the southern end of Scandola Marine Reserve, by the Gulf of Girolata. Accessible by boat or by a trail only! This exceptionnal dive site benefits from the incredible amount of life and diversity that has developped in the Marine Reserve of Scandola. To the south, where the fauna is at its richest, check out the massive groupers, the scorpionfish, moray eels, the big schools of corbfish, drummers and seabreams... Between 18 and 23 meters, you can also explore the torn out wreck of the Saint Mathieu (another section is a bit deeper), a 56m coal ship that hit a pinnacle; the propeller and the boiler are still here, somewhere in the rubbles!
For experienced divers, the southern drop-off plummets down to 40m and offers a beautiful coral landscape with a lot of red and yellow gorgonian fans. The coralligenous flora has colonised the rock and provides shelter for some sizeable lobsters, transparent shrimps and pink anthias. One of the best dive sites in Corsica, do not miss it!
