Cap Creus Marine Reserve

The Cap Creus National Park was formed in 1998 and is a true haven for scuba divers. It is the first marine nature reserve in Catalonia. One quarter is under the sea and the other three quarters on land!

A great diving spot here is Massa D’Or or Sa Rata which is a site for experienced divers given its 50m depth and pretty strong and sometimes unpredictable currents. Divers can find caves to explore amongst the rocky seabed and schools of barracuda are often seen. There are over 300 different species of fish and in Spring or Autumn you may be lucky enough to spot a whale!

Bau Cap Trencat de Flora is one of the most beautiful dives sites ranging form 12-30m. This site boasts beautiful landscapes of rocky bottoms and low coral reefs as well as incredible marine flora and fauna such as sponges, sea fans as well as groupers and gilt head bream.

Other popular dives site in the Cap Creus National Park are: El Gat, La Pared del Bisbe and La Punta del Mero. Resident marine life here include barracudas, nudibranchs,  crustaceans and gorgonian fans.
