- Cyril, the founder and Divemaster, and his ability to make you feel special
In the heart of a small village called Deshaies, on the west coast of Guadeloupe, Cyril created the Calypso dive center in 2013.
Having been diving since he age of 18, Cyril is definitely what one would call a dive lover! In fact, marine life is his second home. He was so taken by the volcanic rock of Guadeloupe that he decided to set up shop and loves sharing his passion with other divers. You too will be taken as soon as you wake up and find yourself on the terrace of Calypso dive center in Deshaies enjoying a free, fresh-baked croissant from the bakery across the street and a coffee on the house—Thanks Cyril!—this is what we call a real warm and friendly atmosphere!
Whether it is an introductory dive, FFESSM level 1, or PADI Deep, Cyril will welcome you with the same smile and enthusiasm! Dive groups are up to 8 divers maximum. Cyril is the only Divemaster at the Calypso dive center and we are sure that you will be pleasantly surprised at his abilities. Able to calm the nervous, motivate the beginner, and go deep in Gustavia for the thrill-seekers, Cyril seems to be everywhere and yet makes you feel like it’s just you and him and you are special.
However, the fun to be had at Calypso does not lie on the fins of the founder alone! Guadeloupe has a secret weapon. No matter what your level, on the dive site Morphy, you will be able to hear the whales’ songs from December to May. You will also be able to go through the passages of Gros Morne and wander about the labyrinths of Ferry. As a family, between friends, or with potential new friends, you can discover most of the sites—and most don’t go over 20 meters.
If we had you at the bakery and their fresh-baked croissants or dive sites for all levels, or even the terrace and kind and enthusiastic Cyril, then Calypso is definitely for you. If you still need convincing, might we throw in a free rum punch at the end of each day? What do you say? Book it?
