Our review of La Rand'eau dive center
Just to have the sensation of being all alone in the world, tucked away in an idyllic little cove, La Rand’eau is worth the trip! Located in Guadeloupe in a little fishing village just near Bouillante, Anse Duché, this dive center opened its doors in 2013 and actually, to this day, it’s the ONLY center here. Yep, that’s already mouth watering, but in addition, the center has a beautiful story attached to it. ‘Tis the story of a love for the seabed. In fact, Ben Larran, founder of La Rand’eau, came to clean the long-neglected bay. With the help of 40 volunteers, Ben picked up and removed 21m3 of waste. He then created a scuba dive center in his image: a warm family center.
La Rand'eau has a zodiac that can only hold up to 8 passengers, another reason it’s so close-knit here. The dive sites are anywhere from a 3- to 10-minute boat ride. And, because La Rand’eau is clear of other dive centers, you dive where others have not gone before. This means, you can admire a still beautifully preserved seabed. What’s more, not only will you see barracudas and sea turtles, but you will also discover stony coral, a rare type for Guadeloupe. Moreover, the 3 instructors at La Rand’eau are true lovers of their jobs and man, does it show! They enjoy speaking with divers and sharing their extensive underwater experience. They also love to train and really take their time to do it right. La Rand’eau offers a wide range of training, including instructor training and, icing on the cake, Tec diving with rebreathers and Nitrox at your disposal. It goes without saying, the gear is in perfect condition and changed regularly.
Finally, since the arrival of Ben and his center, the restaurant next door has come to life. They live all together as one big happy family in this little slice of heaven.
P.S. Ben continues to clean the beach :)
