Our opinion on Dive Systems:
Malta is probably one of the best fitted islands in the Med for scuba diving: almighty wrecks, supernatural arches and caves, world-class shore dives... All this is guaranteed in next week's schedule at Dive Systems!
Probably the longest established dive centre on 'The Rock', it's also arguably one of the bests.
Paul Sciberras set up Dive Systems 40 years ago (he's only got 2 digits on his dive card!) and started importing dive kits, doing commercial jobs and filling tanks. By the early 80's his brother joins in and they open up to recreational diving: today, Dive Systems is the maltese leader in certifications of all levels, with a perfect safety record!
Nowadays the company is managed by Simon and his brother, Paul's sons. Diving is second nature to them, so they carried on with their father's work and started doing technical diving as well as professional courses. They've already earned the best instructor development centre (IDC) award, they're now among the best 'tek' dive schools around! With all PADI / PADI TecRec courses and specialties, 3 trimix instructors, several rebreathers, enough oxygen and helium to run the whole show and a few tek guides, we can guarantee they have what you're looking for! All these training opportunities will enable you to dive WWI and WWII wrecks or the famous Polynesien cruiseship wreck... reasonably, you can't say no to that!
The atmosphere is very friendly and personal (ask for Kaarsten, he's just priceless!). The equipment is all Beuchat and comes in all types and sizes, but always in good shape... Also, there are plenty of room and equipment for groups, along with a real logistical know-how !
Dive Systems is the only dive centre in Malta to own a liveaboard cruiseship: from mid May till November, you can charter it for yourself or your club!
They can run several boats at any one time, so the 3 islands (Malta, Gozo and Comino) are within your reach. We appreciated that the dive plans and briefings are sharp, safe and well adapted to every dive group.
