Diving the Similan & Surin marine parks - Andaman sea, Thailand

The Similan Islands and the Surin area are without a doubt the absolute best of what Thailand has to offer as far as scuba diving goes. This protected National Marine Park is made up of several tiny islands surrounded with some of the richest and colorful waters to be found in the Indian ocean!

A liveaboard dive trip is really the only way to enjoy the Similans and there are options to suit all budgets. There are over 30 different dive sites on offer here and divers can enjoy from 4 to 10 night safaris or simply take a day trip to the islands from Kao Lak. Some of the best dive sites during the trip will take you around the Surin Islands, Koh Bon and the famous Richelieu Rock.

The liveaboards operate from November to May and visibility is between 25-40m. Currents can be strong here and attract large pelagics such as whale-sharks and manta rays... sometimes both at the same time!

Divers will be blown away by the marine life which also includes reef sharks, batfish, moray eels, barracudas, triggerfish, green and hawksbill turtles, and unicornfish to name but a few. Huge granite boulders, steep slopes, and towering pinnacles are home to healthy corals and gorgonian fans.
