Diving Marseille and its bay

With almost 300km of coastline around Marseille, you'll find a wide variety of landscapes and ecosystems in the huge roadstead! Like the rocky and rugged coast of La Ciotat, or the marine reserves near Carry-le-Rouet and Cap Couronne.

The region has a long history of harbours, either commercial (in Marseille Fos or La Ciotat) or picturesque fishing marinas. Take your time and visit the latter with your small boat or sail, and explore the wild coves called 'Calanques'.

For the divers, the famous calanques are a real treat; the roadstead in front of Marseille is so large that you can explore just about everywhere! Sites like L'Impérial du large / the Offshore Imperial, Les Arches des Farillons / the Farillons' Arch, or la Grotte à Corail / the Coral Cave are amongst the most beautiful in the whole Med. Around the islands of Riou, you can find over 40 sites including arches, caves, drop-offs, shipwrecks and gorgeous swim-thrus.

The icing on the cake? There are over 20 wrecks of various times in history scattered in the bay... Go go go!
