DIVING Le MORBIHAN

Blessed with a microclimate, the Morbihan is a fascinating region of France's Brittany... Chiselled beaches, fields of broom and heather dotted with massive granit blocks, the Black Mountains, some picturesque villages: the landscape has a tranquil beauty that the neighbouring Finistère region lacks, truly charming! Some historical sites are scattered in the area, like the rock alignment in Carnac, which attracts a few tourists every year.

Mor-bihan, in the local dialect it means 'the little sea', has a lot of treasures to offer divers; with 900 kilometres of coast and 46 islands (42 in the gulf alone!) there is enough room for adventure! The weather conditions and the visibility are often challenging but the sea bed is stunning, with beautiful flora: anemones, sponges, kelp, red and green algae... and a diverse fauna: stingrays, lobsters, bar, mulets, seaspiders and lots of different nudibranchs who will please all naturalists and underwater photographers. You can also dive some of the wrecks like the Artiglio, the Bugalet or the Dreadnaught France, to name a few! Historically, the Morbihan is a divers' region so it counts a few dive centres, some of the best in France. So if you're looking at doing some quality diving without having to travel to the other side of the world, come and visit Brittany: the locals say 'Degemer Mat'... Welcome!
