DIVING HURGHADA

How could we sum up diving in Egypt? What could we actually say that hasn't already been said? Really, a few lines seem futile to try and describe the wealth of marine life that exists in a destination that has become over the last 30 years a diving Mecca! Extremely difficult task... but we'll give it a try!

From Taba, at the far north of Sinai, to Marsa Alam, down south by the Sudanese border, through to Sharm El Sheikh, Gouna, Safaga and, of course, Hurghada, every little fishing village tens of years ago has now become a seaside resort that everyone wants on their logbook! It's about a 6-hour flight from London, only one hour time difference, affordable flights and a fair weather year-round, yes! Egypt is the best deal there is when it comes to organising a dive trip.

Hurghada holds a very special place in this laudatory portrait of Egypt. As a matter of fact it is one of the world's best known dive destination, and some say it has outgrown its reputation and is now just a gigantic snorkeling pool... think again! Stretched over 36 kilometres of coastline, Hurghada and the region have an impressive amount of dive sites that won't cease to surprise you. The local authorities are engaged into an effort of conservation so that the wonders of this underwater world don't disappear. Here is actually a good place to start diving... The dive centres are plenty, in all languages, and so are the accomodation options.

Since 2008 the new Marina, 'Hurghada by night', have attracted the party-goers and Sheraton Road and the shopping district to the South are real magnets for the shopaholics! There's just so much to do! If you're short on books you can also head to local library... And when it rains (very, very rarely!) you can check out the Aquarium.

In a few words like in hundreds: Hurghada is unmissable!
