Diving Vietnam

The easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is a country rich in history and culture. Its mountainous terrain covered with thick vegetation is just as important as its coasts. Vietnam finds itself bordered by the China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The Mekong River holds equally a special place in this country that has been more often than not ravaged by war.

Diving alone probably does not justify a full trip in and of itself to this country, but while there, it would be a shame not to organize a small trip over to Nha Trang or Whale Island. The latter is definitely one of the most interesting places to dive.

  • Whale Island is located in the middle of bay of Port Dayot. Here, we can see many specimens of nudibranchs and crustaceans in bright and attractive colors.
  • Nha Trang bay is known for sites, such as, the caves, South Bay, Moray Beach and its beautiful coral gardens, arcades of Madonna Rocks, and the great Goat Rock drop-off. We can also see Big and Small Wall and Octopus Rock.

Vietnam also gives you the opportunity to dive alongside endangered species, such as, dugongs and Irrawaddy dolphins. This latter is able to trace the Mekong for over 1500 kilometers. If you’re looking for sea cows, the archipelago of Côn Đảo is home to a family of 25. Some great dives are waiting for you…
