DIVING JORDAN

The ideal time to dive Jordan is between April and November. The little kingdom will definitely leave a good impression on everyone diving there! Set at the heart of the Middle East, it is a peaceful haven amidst 'busier' neighbours... Home to numerous historical and natural wonders (Petra, Wadi Rum), Jordan is a desert country with valleys, gorges and a few mountainous areas. For the diver the focus is on the 26 kilometres of coastline stretching from the Dead Sea to Aqaba, and more specifically on the latest! As the unique window onto the Red Sea, Aqaba is a strategic harbour, bustling port where all the commercial activity of the country happens. It is also a developing seaside resort that can cater for all the diver's needs: good hotels, from cheap to luxury, very good and serious dive centres and most importantly amazing coral beds and underwater landscapes with great visibility! If you're planning to dive in Aqaba there are about 30 dive sites, for the beginner and for the more advanced. We recommend the nice Cedar Pride shipwreck, purposefully sunk in 1986 as an artificial reef. Lying in 25 meters of water it is now home to some beautiful gorgonian fans and a heap of lionfish! If you're into drop-off and wall diving, try 'Kiwi Reef': though it's only 30 meters deep, 120 different species of fish have been registered there and large pelagic fish are often seen. For training dives you can count on several coral gardens, 'Japanese style'! So if you're looking into furthering your diving education, it's definitely suitable place. Aqaba counts a lot of different corals and with a bit of luck you might find the rare black coral... Obviously no touching! Have fun!
