Diving Oman
With over 3,100 kilometers of coastline, Oman is nicknamed the 'Sultana of the Sea', making it one the favourite diving destinations in the Middle East.
There are several diving 'hotspots':
- Muscat: you'll find about 20 dive sitesaround the capital city, for all levels. The visibility stretches between 10 to 15 meters and the area enjoys a diversity of 58 species of corals and 900 different fish... altogether more than enough to keep you busy for a whole week! We really liked the Al Munassir shipwreck, Fahal Island and Al Kayran Bay.
- The Daymanyiat IslandsNature Reserve: located just north of Muscat, it is one of the most sought after diving locations in the world for the diversity of its marine life! If you are an underwater photographer, it's a treat...
- Musandam: a truly unique destination since it is on the northern peninsula where the amazement is both topside and underwater! Fjords, mountains, narrow straits, drop-offs or sheltered bays, the area is scarcely visited and best enjoyed on a liveaboard.
- Dhofar region: to the south, close to the Yemen border, is a remote area rarely dived though it is full of surprises, like the giant kelp bloom in the monsoon season or the astonishing diversity of nudibranchs...
Oman is a very special and surprising diving location set in a truly magical environment where both divers and travellers alike, in their quest for something authentic, will be rewarded!
