Diving Curaçao

Once a real pirate hangout at the time of the West Indies Company, Curaçao is too often associated with the incredible blue alcohol famous for making cocktails with… However, here, it’s not just in glasses and cocktails that we have blue fun. More discreet than its Caribbean neighbors, a few miles off the coast of Venezuela and Bonaire, the Curaçao waters hide many treasures. It would be unforgivable to not scuba dive here !

Located far from the hurricane belt, this island of the Lesser Antilles has a good 60 some dive sites listed. Not bad when you consider that this piece of land is no longer than 64 kilometers and no wider than 16. Surely you’ve heard of the Superior Producer, Mushroom Forest, the Cave, and Porto Mari ?! These are a few among the many must-dive sites. There are generally a lot of shallow dives and therefore, easily accessible for beginners. The water is warm year round—30° on average, which explains the abundance of tropical fish. Some wrecks are now home to colorful life, which provides a playground for more experienced divers. Most of the dives are from the west coast of the island so you can benefit from more than a century-old coral—an absolute wonder ! Add to these dives at least 38 sandy beaches, gastronomic meals, picturesque colonial architecture, and a strong culture, and you have a destination great for the family or a perfect honeymoon spot… Don’t forget your fins !
