Diving the Bay Islands, Honduras

Utila, Roatan, Islas de la Bahia... Those are some names that will have most divers dreaming. As a matter of fact, the Bay Islands, North of Honduras, are still a bit off-the-beaten-track as a touristic destination, and only the most curious among us have been there! Located at the crossroads between the two American continents, a place of conquest and pirates, the Caribbean republic combines an eventful past with a rich and diverse natural heritage. You can safely venture in the country with the whole family, in a group or simply backpacking around! Scuba diving happens up North, in the Bay Islands, for all ages, certifications and experience.

The waters and the marine life of theBay Islands hold a particular place in the Caribbean, and the show, for divers and snorkelers alike, is almost guaranteed thanks to a year round pristine visibility! The coral reef borders the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world and boasts a few sizeable and crazy shaped creatures (parrotfish and whale-sharks would be the perfect examples!). A few coral gardens around the islands are home to one of the most dense and diverse marine life in the Caribbean! Like an open-sky aquarium!

The Bay Islands also sport a few caves, protected Marine Parks and a few beautiful shipwrecks... Bring that in with some particularly mild weather conditions: you've got yourself a great diving destination!
