DIVING SPAIN (North East)

Catalonia, in the north east of Spain, holds a lot of great dive spots, with Mount Canigou, in the Pyrenees, watching over the coast. Stretching from Selva Harbour to Begur and through Estartit, this area is famous for its drop-offs covered in colourful gorgonian fans, its network of caves and arches hiding a surprising diversity of fauna and flora! Don't miss a dive around the islands of Las Medes, protected since 1983, one of the best dive sites in Europe... The Cape of Creus is another national park that encompasses 4 marine reserves, and 3 of them are diveable!! Underwater, the dramatic and rugged topography guarantee you'll have a great time amongst red, purple and yellow gorgonians. This hidden gem is open throughout the year (except on the coldest months) and you can experience the changes with the seasons: April and May are the time of the colourful and awesome nudibranchs, and the sunfish that come here to breed; when the temperatures rise the groupers, barracudas and eagles rays come back! Most of the cool spots are only accessible by boat, since they're secluded in a narrow bay down a steep cliff, or in deep water near a tiny island. Don't miss it, or you'll regret it!
