Dive in Qatar - The new Eden!

Qatar is fast becoming one of the world's most exciting places to visit! A young country with a rapidly growing economy, it is home to the Museum of Islamic Art, refined restaurants and magnificent sunsets: so why not try something different? Like, say, scuba diving!

Qatar is located on the NE coast of the Arabian Peninsula and is bathed in the warm waters of the Persian Gulf. The country enjoys mild winters and very hot, humid summers; its landscape is made up of sandy dunes and flat rocky deserts as well as beautiful mangrove forests found in Zakhira and Um el Hol.

As far as scuba diving in Qatar goes, most of the dive centers are located in the capital city Doha, which is home to a few reefs and lots of wrecks. Rebreather, Sidemount and Technical diving are popular here and many dive centers offer great advanced dives.

The wrecks can be dove from Doha, such as the well known M O Wreck, 25m deep off a drilling platform near Halool Island. The exciting Pericles cargo wreck and the Alexia wreck, sitting right side up with its house sized propeller, are also popular dives!

Close to Mesaieed (south) and Khor Al Udeid (west), there are many shoredive sites, with depth ranging from 6-20m as well nice offshore dive sites. The more popular dive spots are: Old Club Reef, a man made reef with sunken buses and cars, New Club Reef and The Barge. Sunken oil rigs in Qatari waters offer some interesting dives as well as the Balambar Wreck and the Tech El Dan wreck.

Divers will enjoy marine life such as groupers, batfish, barracudas, sea bream, needlefish, nudibranchsand cuttlefish. Qatar is also home to the 2nd largest dugong population in the world, an endangered species: in Sumaysimah on the east coast and Umm Bab or Dukhan on the west coast.
