Scuba diving in Port Louis, North Guadeloupe - French Antilles
Port Louis is a town located on the north western side of Grande-Terre in the Guadeloupe archipelago and is protected by the largest coral reef in the lesser French Antilles, boasting warm waters of between 26 – 30’c. It is a small fishing village and home to one of Guadeloupe’s prettiest beaches: Plage du Souffleur.
Divers can expect to see spectacular coral formations, caves and even a sunken airplane at the wisely called L’Avion dive site! It lies at 22m and has been colonized by many different coral species.
The Arches is a fantastic dive site with its maze of arches and swim-throughs and La Pointe de la Grande Vigie to the north of the island offers underwater cliffs and incredible scenery. The marine flora and fauna includes gorgonian sea fans, staghorn corals, turtles, angelfish, seahorses and garden eels. Note that on this side of Guadeloupe, pods of dolphins are often spotted on the way to the dive sites!
