Diving El Hierro - Canary Islands, Spain

The smallest and farthest south of the Canary Islands, El Hierro is remote and wild. With its slow relaxed pace, cliff lined shores and beautiful volcanic terrain, El Hierro is a very unique place and even plans on becoming the first energy self-sufficient island in the world by using solar, wind and water power!

La Restinga on the southern tip of the island has more than 20 different dive sites available, and all close by. Here divers will find the Mar De Las Calmas Marine Reserve with its perfect year round diving and great visibility. Sea temperatures range from 21-24’c year round.

The underwater landscapes are impressive due its volcanic history. The sea bed is covered with pinnacles, and has lots of caves and tunnels. A huge diversity of marine life can be found here including lobsters, seahorses, sponges, black and yellow corals, groupers, flatfish, angel sharks, octopi and stingrays.

Seasonal visitors also include sand tiger sharks, whale-sharks, dolphins and turtles!
