Diving Gran Canaria - Canary IslandsSpain

With its long white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline, mountainous landscapes and widespread duty free shopping, Gran Canaria is a top Canary Island tourist destination and it's not hard to see why! It’s the third largest island in the archipelago but accounts for almost half the population. Beyond the sands and the dunes there are many fun activities to take up apart from scuba diving, such as hiking and cycling.

The world famous El Cabron Marine Reserve is located in Aringa in the subtropical waters of Gran Canaria. Divers will be amazed at the diversity of marine life and its density which range from butterflyfish to angel sharks, red parrotfish and nudibranchs!

There is a mixture of species from the Mediterranean, Atlantic and from the Caribbean and the abundance of sea grass beds create a safe habitat for fish nurseries. There are also several endangered and critically endangered species here that can sometimes be spotted such as the giant devil ray, dusky and island groupers, loggerhead turtle and butterfly ray.
